About The Event

AAKANKSHA is the annual youth festival of the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, and it has been a cherished tradition for years. This vibrant event offers a much-needed break from the routine academic schedule, serving as a dynamic platform for students to showcase their extracurricular talents. Beyond entertainment, AAKANKSHA fosters social connections and encourages the exchange of innovative ideas and perspectives.

More than just a fest, AAKANKSHA is a celebration of student aspirations. Coordinated entirely by a dedicated team of undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Institute of Science, this festival truly embodies the spirit of being “Of the Students, By the Students, and For the Students!”

With a staggering 38 diverse events, AAKANKSHA stands as the largest festival of BHU, spanning genres like Literature, Cinematics, Theatre, Music, Dance, and Fine Arts, alongside exciting activities such as the Mini Marathon, Treasure Hunt, Sudoku, and a captivating Science Exhibition. Each year, the festival transforms with fresh colors, bringing new vibrancy to the campus.

The festival season begins in mid-January and continues until the second week of February, culminating in a grand finale at the iconic Swatantrata Bhawan, Banaras Hindu University. AAKANKSHA is more than an event—it's a tradition, a celebration, and a testament to the boundless energy and creativity of the students of BHU.
